There shines a star

This is an interesting idea - one that was spoiled by implementation. For the lazy, its a scene of Star Trek dubbed over with nonsense that exactly fits their mouth movements. But they add stupid sound effects, and change their voices, and insert unecessary snippets of songs, and generally try to play up the randomness and ridiculousness.

Well worth a watch though.



Also well worth a watch is the movie Amelie.

You might be expecting 1000 words of explanation about the elements I liked and disliked, but then again, I might be expecting Blogspot not to crash half-way through publishing, despite the fact that I was editing a pre-existing post. I guess we can't all get what we want.

Tell you what else we want: a WWII era interview of H.G. Wells and Orson Welles being interviewed simultaneously.They discuss all sorts of historically relevant stuff. H.G. criticises the Americans in a polite, guarded way of being too immature in comparison to Britain, saying that "You don't have the war right under your chins yet, and the consequence is that you can still play with ideas of terror." They discuss the great War of the Worlds scare and scandal, and note that "Hitler made sport of it... it apparently highlights the corruption of principles that come about in democracy" (or words to that effect.)

Then H.G. Wells "plugs" Orson Welles upcoming film 'Citizen Kane,' saying that he's "looking forward to it." Thats right, in the one interview, they cover the War of the Worlds, World War 2 and the upcoming Citizen Kane. It is an astonishingly good historical source.

H.G. Wells is about 5 years from death in this, and it comes across a bit, particularly in his voice. But he's so adorably nice and charming. He makes the impression of the perfect English Gentleman.
